Palatine, IL USA
Width: 12" Length: 9"
Materials/Techniques: A photo of a water lily, edited in Photoshop, printed on fabric coated with Golden's Digital Grounds, and then quilted.
Artist Statement: I made this quilt as part of an on-line challenge group where the theme was to experiment in contrast and color and use strong value contrast in a dramatic way. In art, chiaroscuro refers to the use of light and dark, usually to add depth and volume to a painting. I started this quilt from a photo I took, which I edited to increase the value contrast. "It took me time to understand my water lilies. I had planted them for the pleasure of it; I grew them without ever thinking of painting them.” -- Claude Monet
Dedication: For my parents, Charles and Marion Schroeder, for whom every stage of life was interesting, even Alzheimer’s.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $70.00 for the AAQI.
