Materials/Techniques: This is made up of batik and cotton fabrics and a bit of photo transfer fabric. It has piecing, machine embroidery and raw-edge appliqué. I do have permission to use the machine-embroidered element but the over-all design is from a photograph that I took.

Artist Statement: The child in this quilt is my granddaughter. On a trip to the San Diego Zoo, she couldn't get enough of one particular giraffe which seemed as interested in her as she was in it. Her mom gave me a book on turning photos into quilt squares.
