Width: 11.25" Length: 8.25"
Materials/Techniques: First I made the beetle bodies by fusing different materials together for the heads and bodies. I laid them out on some different floral and leafy fabric and couldn't come up with a good composition. So I changed direction and went for novelty rather than reality. The wings are petals from an artificial flower and the whole thing is covered by a piece of almost invisible net. Flannel inner layer, quilted and sewn on a Pfaff Hobby 1142 home sewing machine.
Artist Statement: My husband suggested I do a quilt with beetles. This is not what he had in mind. It is what evolved from the initial making of the beetle bodies.
