Cheri Payne, ABC Sampler Quilt, used with written permission.
Materials/Techniques: Homespun and reproduction cotton quilt fabrics are "aged" with tea, coffee, and black walnut dyeing; faces are double layers, turned, and pick-stitched with black quilting thread; eyes, hair, and dress details are cotton floss; wool appliqué is hand-dyed by me from thrift shop garments that have been felted, and is buttonhole stitched by hand with cotton floss; 3 vintage buttons; hand quilted, wonky.
Artist Statement: Cheri Payne of Wednesday's Best designed this Friends block for her ABC Sampler Quilt. I took the class in San Diego and thought this individual, primitive block made a nice Alzheimer's "Folk Art" Initiative project. I changed the name to Sisters and used pastels since I made another, darker block for Friends.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $70.00 for the AAQI.
