12,981 - Pillowcase Lady

Width: 10.5" Length: 8.75"

Materials/Techniques: Cotton , polyester, paint pens, cotton edging, beads, poly and invisible threads. Machine pieced and quilted with raw edge appliqué. I saved the embroidery from an old pillowcase. The crocheted skirt was beyond repair so I made her a new skirt from a scarf, added the beading on the skirt and the edging, touched up the coloring with my paint pens.

Artist Statement: This little art quilt was inspired by a memory of watching my aunt sit for hours in the evening embroidering her pillowcases and towels. When I found this one I knew I had to save the lady.
