Materials/Techniques: I used cotton and a synthetic fabric. The techniques used were sharpie/alcohol, thread painting and reverse appliqué.

Artist Statement: My daughter and son-in-law went to Hawaii while pregnant with their youngest son. They snorkeled in a lagoon. A sea turtle swam under my daughter's tummy as she swam across the lagoon. Turtles have held a special place in her heart since that day, so I wanted to make a turtle.
