Materials/Techniques: This little quilt is 100% cotton -- machine pieced and machine quilted.
Artist Statement: I love colorful, cheerful holiday fabrics, but I hardly ever do anything with them! I pulled some out and put my mind to the problem, and this is the result! I started with the tiny squares part, then I sewed strips of the other fabrics together into a strip set, then began cutting off pieces, fitting them together, trimming, then adding something else, until I had something that was the right size and I was satisfied with. My ancient gold glitter thread seemed just right for the quilting. The appliquéd flower was a last minute addition, but I think it helps pull the whole thing together. My first thought for binding was a solid, but in the end the additional colorful fabric seemed the better choice. What do you think?
