JoAnn Stowell
Longview, WA USA
Width: 11.5" Length: 8.25"
Materials/Techniques: I started with white PFD cloth and a pencil drawing. NeoColor II crayons with water and a little oil pastel. I then added lots of free motion sewing. It is thread signed.
Artist Statement: Every year the whole family helps at my brother's to pick the apples and then press them into cider. It is a big job all day long picking, washing, throwing some out to the deer that are not good, then comes the actual pressing. It needs a good strong arm and the pulp is put in the compost. The juice must settle overnight and then be siphoned off. It is a lot of work but very tasty.
