Longview, WA USA
Width: 8" Length: 11.25"
Materials/Techniques: I started with white PFD cloth and a pencil drawing, then used NeoColor II crayons with water and a little oil pastel. Lots of free motion zigzag for the tree and greenery around the mirror. Then I sewed a lot of pearls and little gems from an Avon dealer (long story). I don't know what you call those little children charms but there is an angel in there also. The presents are made of velvet and velvet ribbons. There are pearls and an old rhinestone button sewn on them. It is thread signed.
Artist Statement: When all is done or as much as a human can do and children are in bed, you sit down. The lights are dim except for the tree and decorations. You hear the distant sound of the singing of Silent Night and you are at peace. It is like summer in the sun when you see that brief moment of the butterfly in the sun you know it will not last long but you must remember it and treasure it for other times.
Dedication: To Momma, and to Barbara and Ele' for being such good caregivers.
