Sandra Butters
Indianapolis, IN USA
Width: 8.75" Length: 10.5"
Materials/Techniques: Cotton and cotton blend fabrics, Pellon, flannel batting, two medium size real Pawpaw leaves, a twig with leaves from a burning bush, a couple of small Pawpaw leaves and I added some real feathers for extra interest, netting, packing tape and fabric glue. Cotton /poly and invisible threads, appliquéd and quilted by machine.
Artist Statement: While raking and bagging leaves one day my husband brought some in for me to see the beautiful fall colors, so I decided to try an experiment and see if I could figure out how to use them in a quilt. I didn't want just the shape or color but wanted to use the actual leaves. I made three quilts using the method that I thought might work.
