Artist Statement: A white heart is the universal symbol for nursing. It was adopted to represent the caring, knowledge and humanity that infuse the work and spirit of nursing.

Dedication: Dedicated to my mother, Frances Funk, who has embraced the ideals of nursing her whole life. She is now 94 and the nursing skills she learned and taught sustain her as she succumbs to advancing dementia.
