Width: 10" Length: 8.5"
Materials/Techniques: I used a whole cloth cotton background print and two leaves that are a sheer white with a flocked design are raw edge appliquéd to the background fabric. I used my paint pens to highlight the leaves and vines, and embellished with two flat-back plastic disks. I used cotton flannel sheeting inside and free motion outline quilting with invisible thread and cotton thread.
Artist Statement: The large white flowers on this bright raspberry colored background seemed the perfect candidate for my slogan quilt. I used a satin stitch and appliquéd two leaves with a white flocked sheer fabric, then used the same stitch to go around some of the other petals to make it look like there are more appliquéd parts. I used my paints to add a little more color to the petals and to write my slogans: Quilting for Dollars, Hope for a Cure and labeled this the Alzheimer's Research Garden. I did some outline quilting and added a couple of green flat-back plastic disk and embellishments on the vines.
