Width: 10.5" Length: 9"
Materials/Techniques: The whole cloth polyester background print was part of a scarf, and pieces from two more head scarves were raw edge appliquéd to the background fabric. These scenic scarves had lost most of their original colors so I used my paint pens to colorize it, then embellished with two flat-back plastic birds. I used cotton flannel sheeting inside, outline and free motion quilting with invisible thread and cotton thread.
Artist Statement: This quilt is made from two up-cycled scarves. The bridge and town scene was so faded it had no color or life in it so I put a cotton fabric behind it and used my paint pens to colorize it, then added raw edge flowers from another scarf in the bottom corners, free motion and outline quilting to hold it all together. I used a half framing technique for the binding by using blue cotton on two sides and part of another scarf on the opposite two sides. I then checked my bits and pieces box and found the two mythical flat-back plastic birds that looked like they were about the right size for the scene.
Dedication: Dedicated to all the other quilter's whose vision I so enjoy looking at on this site and cheer when I see that another quilt has been sold.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $50.00 for the AAQI.
