Width: 10.75" Length: 8"
Materials/Techniques: The whole cloth cotton background has raw edge leaves appliquéd all over it, all colors touched up with paint, flannel sheeting inside. The cat was hand drawn on cotton and painted then appliquéd to the background, with free motion quilting using invisible thread and cotton thread. That's not piping just double edge framing.
Artist Statement: This quilt was inspired by a painting that my husband acquired when he worked for a zoo. Our painting shows a beautiful mother and baby leopard on a branch of a tree. My quilt only has one depiction of a jungle cat on a branch hiding among the leaves and vines. I didn't have any leopard print fabric so I had to hand paint each and every spot on this cat. You can tell it's a female by the belly hanging over the side of the limb.
Dedication: To all the wonderful people that work in the retirement homes and centers.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $64.67 for the AAQI.
