Sandra Butters
Indianapolis, IN USA
Width: 8" Length: 10"
Materials/Techniques: Whole cloth background fabric with a machine appliquéd cotton vase. Rayon artificial flower petals and leaves are appliquéd leaving the edges free to give more dimension. I have used flannel sheeting inside, a small amount of velvet ribbon, some fuzzy yarn, a tiny baby button, invisible thread and cotton thread and a combination of diagonal quilting and outline quilting.
Artist Statement: I found a rayon artificial flower in my stash of bits and pieces. I took it apart and threw the plastic parts away, ironed it flat, cut away some of the petals added some fuzzy yarn and a bit of velvet ribbon and put it all together in a little yellow vase. I think it looks a lot prettier in my quilt than it did before.
