Width: 8.75" Length: 10.75"
Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabric, part of a machine embroidered knit sweater that also has bead decoration on it and a piece of machine embroidered cotton skirt. I added some decorative stitches with my machine around the decorative parts, cotton flannel sheeting in between and the flat-back plastic angel, invisible thread and cotton thread. I used raw edge appliqué on the printed cut out squares.
Artist Statement: Leaning square is made out of parts cut from three different pieces of old clothing; a cloth coat, a gathered skirt and a knit sweater. Each of these had a feature that made them worth holding onto until I could get inspired in how to use them. The little flat-back plastic angel came from a distant relative’s estate. She died in the 70's and her brother just shut up her apartment for 30 years. She loved to do all kinds of crafts and lucky me, I got all her bits and pieces.
