Indianapolis, IN USA
Width: 10" Length: 8"
Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabric front and back, flannel sheeting inside, acrylic yarn made into a snail on a spool knitter (homemade), cotton poly threads, machine outline quilted, traditional binding.
Artist Statement: To dress up a piece of printed pale blue flower fabric, I added some smaller flowers and used paint pens to deepen the colors but it still needed something. That’s when I found this spool knit snail that I had made several years ago. He was a little bit big for the flowers but his colors seemed to just go with these flowers. I was surprised when I discovered that it would fit under the pressure foot so I was able to use the machine to sew him down. I don't consider myself very artistic but I do like whimsical things. I'm sure there is at least one person out there that will love the combination of crafts and that really likes snails.
Dedication: To my husband who has to live with the mess of my projects. He's always willing to run to the store and pick up paint pens or thread and to supply me with new ideas for my little quilts and he does all my mailing.
