Artist Statement: I made my mom a square table topper with a medallion design in 2000 in white and pink. I had a baggie of pieces left and over the years I tried to make something out of it but there were never enough scraps. I took those pieces and made a background, all the while thinking about the photo I have of Mom and Dad napping in a recliner together on Christmas Day under that table topper. They really thought it was a very small lap quilt. Over the years mom had tried to soften the quilt by washing it to death but I had used a stiffer material for the table topper. I didn't realize that she still thought it was a tiny quilt and would nap with it on point! She is 4' 10" so I can see why she may have thought that it was just for her, that is why I could not throw out those scraps. They made me smile every time I ran across them. Yes, I did make her a lap quilt to replace it, long enough to go over her head and under her feet. She was ecstatic.

Dedication: To the adult children that know what that little box of broken bobbles and ancient doodads mean to their parents. It is not just a box of junk, but a box filled with memories, some very emotional, some just plain silly. But for them just peering into this time capsule may make a very difficult day into a wondrous day.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $50 for the AAQI.
