Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabrics, traditionally pieced with hand appliqué.
Artist Statement: We have a family challenge every year. Two of us are quilters, but I'm the only one who makes art quilts. The rule is that if you don't quilt, you need to contribute a design and/or fabric. This year, two of my sisters sent me both their designs and fabric. I make a "test" one first so they can approve. They got to keep the first "test" and I made the final one for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative.
We first did this challenge last year with the theme "Sky Blue Pink," Dad's favorite color. One of the non- quilters asked if we could do it again and came up with the "Blueberry Fields" theme since we grew up next to a cultivated blueberry farm.
This was our second annual family challenge. My sister, Laurie Parker McMullan, designed and I pieced and quilted the quilt.
