Width: 10.75" Length: 8"
Materials/Techniques: I used cotton and poly fabric, invisible and cotton threads and paint pens. All the parts are rough-cut appliquéd. The large witch has her hat, hair and cape thread painted. I did machine quilting on the pumpkins, around the poisoned apples, the other witches, the ghost and moon and to depict the ghostly trail through the sky.
Artist Statement: I had some cotton fabric printed with pumpkins and other fruits and vegetables and with Halloween coming up next month I decided to try my hand at a scary picture. I cut out the pumpkins and some apples in a basket and pieced them onto a pieced background. The pumpkins turned into jack o lanterns and I pieced a large witch complete with a crooked nose and long green hair. I then added some of her buddies and a couple of ghosts. Beware the nasty pumpkin and the poison apples, the witches are gathering for All Hallows Eve.
Dedication: To the Alzheimer’s researchers.
