Artist Statement: My mother-in-law, Bertha Torkelsen Cotton, suffered with Alzheimer's for at least 12 years until she was 92 years old. She loved the colors of coral and turquoise/teal, so that became the inspiration for this quilt. This log cabin quilt has a traditional red center representing heart, hearth & family. The many flowers in the red border stand for her love of flowers and gardening. She was born in Norway and came to the USA at age five. She was very proud of her heritage, hence the title in Norwegian, "Her Favorite Colors."
Dedication: To Bertha Torkelsen Cotton (1917-2008).
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $45 for the AAQI.
