Designer: This little quilt is a very loose interpretation of Kaffe Fassett’s handkerchief squares; so loose that I doubt he would claim it!

Materials/Techniques: Homespun cottons; machine pieced and machine quilted.

Artist's Statement: We learn something from each quilt, don’t we? This one, made from extra squares of a much larger quilt which actually came out quite well, taught me to never again try to match up striped homespun because it wiggles under the ruler, and every one of the 1680 pieces had to be fussy cut. When I put misaligned pieces together, the squares made me think of an Alzheimer’s patient trying to walk a straight path through her memory.

Dedication: For Aunt Jo, who was a wonderful stitcher years ago, but who now lives in an Alzheimer’s facility and can’t remember any of it.

This quilt is displayed with Fast Finish Triangles.

This quilt earned $35 for Alzheimer's research.
