Designer: Concord Collections, EmbroideryDesigns.com, used with written permission.Materials/Techniques: A schoolhouse is machine embroidered in the center using a design from Embroidery Designs.com
Artist Statement: With only 2 years of college, my mother began her 27 year teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse, being the only teacher of grades 1-8. When she retired as a Reading Specialist, she had earned both a Master's and Specialist degree. Although Alzheimer's has now robbed her of her ability to read and write, many children were touched by her through the years. A one-room schoolhouse reminds me of the stories she would tell about her early years as a teacher.
