Longview, WA USA
Width: 11" Length: 8"
Materials/Techniques: The design is drawn on white fabric. I used oil pastels for the egret to resist the NeoColor II crayons and the acrylic paint and water. The rocks are mostly oil pastels. I free motion quilted it and used some white shimmer thread for the egret.
Artist Statement: My neighbor came to the door and said there is a large bird out in the street. I was barefoot and in a muumuu but grabbed my camera and was chasing this great white egret up and down the street. My friend that knows a lot about birds said he would have flown but the wind was blowing very hard. The bird seemed to duck behind the bushes and leave me standing there when a car went by; they went slowly but not so slowly that I could explain why I was half dressed and barefoot. Oh well, I got some great pictures. If you Google Great White Egret Palm Desert, CA you will see what someone else got with their movie camera.
Dedication: To my friends Ele' and Barbara, they are caregivers and great friends.
