Width: 9" Length: 12"
Designer: Weeks Ringle, Modern Quilts Illustrated, Vol. 2, used with written permission.Materials/Techniques: This little quilt is all cotton -- top, batting and back. I hand appliquéd the ovals, using freezer paper templates -- a first for me! The background is a Kona cotton solid. The ovals are made from black and white fabrics that I had in my stash, and a piece of batik that I recently acquired. The hand quilting is done in a medium grey cotton thread.
Artist Statement: Recently, I have been inspired by 'modern' quilts! Since I love to try new things in my mini-quilts for AAQI, I decided to let a beautiful quilt from the front cover of a beautiful new magazine inspire me. In addition, I happen to own a set of three oval condiment dishes that I could use as templates! It seemed destined to happen.
