Width: 11.25" Length: 8.25"

Designer: Original design

Materials/Techniques: Orange and black 100% fabrics and batting. Fused and machine appliqud bats and moon using silver metallic thread with a fun "wonky" stitching technique around the moon that I learned in a Libby Lehman workshop. I finished it off with hand beadwork throughout background. Fast finish triangles in all 4 corners for hanging any orientation and signed using black thread in lower left corner.

Artist Statement: I took the Quilt-A-Month blog suggestion of orange and black quilts. Those 2 colors immediately bring thoughts of autumn and Halloween, so I created this original design with that in mind. Once I had the bat design looking like a bat, I then reduced it to create the smaller bats and worked to make them all fit within the moon. The beads on the black/white patterned background remind me of twinkling stars. Thanks to our son, Kevin, for the title "Bat-Moon".
