Materials/Techniques: A strip pieced background of 100% cotton batiks of purple and pinks provides a striking contrast for this bird. The bird is hand appliquéd in black threads, using a buttonhole stitch with additional embroidery stitches used to embellish the features of the bird. The binding is pieced to match the background. The quilt is hand quilted in the ditch along the strips of the background.

Artist Statement: I made this quilt to support Alzheimer's research.
