Designer: Original designMaterials/Techniques: 100% cotton fabrics, 80/20 batting, fusible web, stabilizer, thread painting, and variegated thread. In order to get the white fabric not to show the black through it, I used fusible stabilizer then used fusible web on top of that. The quilting is done with the regular straight stitch.
Artist Statement: I wanted to create an original design of an owl. My middle daughter’s birthday is in July and she loves owls so I drew the owl. I never draw the whole scene that I have in mind because trying to follow it stresses me out. The rest of the piece is freehand, seat of the pants cutting which I find very liberating. Now I have to make her one!
