Materials/Techniques: All cotton fabrics, batting, and thread. I did some beading in the tree and used buttons for the eyes. The giraffe and the tree are appliquéd onto a blue background fabric. All the grass is thread work.

Artist Statement: This is an original design, and is the first in a series of Welcome To The Zoo quilts.

Dedication: To my mother, Harriet Renshaw. She had Alzheimer's for several years before she died. She made many quilts in her lifetime, and I think she would be proud to have me participate in this project.
