Josephville, MO USA
Width: 8.75" Length: 9.5"
Materials/Techniques: Pachyderm paper, cotton fabric, machine pieced, & machine quilted.
Artist Statement: This little quilt was inspired by a former student, who sent me some pachyderm paper. The paper is made from elephant poop. The paper was created to help change the perception of the farmers in Sri Lanka and to encourage the economic value of the elephant in the conflict areas. Since 1950's over 4,000 elephants have been killed in the area just because they interfere with agriculture. If the elephant is used as an economic asset, it is contributing meaningfully to the welfare of the people, then the people themselves will not want to see them disappear for the area.
Dedication: To Mom.
This quilt has a Hanging Ring.
This quilt earned $27 for the AAQI.
