Artist Statement: I've done many vintage designs in redwork embroidery and wanted to use Sun Bonnet Sue in a quilt piece. I opted to surround the picture with all red cotton patterns. The buttons and beads were extras. The little girl reminds me of my sister and me. Made for the Dallas Area Fiber Artists, 2012 "Pathways" Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative Challenge.
