Designer: Original designMaterials/Techniques: 100% cotton fabric, 80/20 batting, cotton and poly threads, fusible web and Pigma pen. I used the blanket stitch for most of the pieces. On the bird I used a specialty stitch to make it look kind of crimpy.
Artist Statement: I had a very rough April. I had cervical spine surgery and could not sew due to the pain. I tried sewing after 2 weeks for 10 minutes at a time. I was determined to make a little quilt for AAQI. I needed to have a reason to smile, so I thought I would just take my time and make something whimsical. This is out of my comfort zone. Why not a red bird in rubber boots? Why not a crazy print for a house? Why not indeed! My grandson loves it!

Dedication: To all the children and caregivers that allow their adult parents to wear a yellow hat, a red plaid shirt and purple floral shorts just because it made them happy to have been able to dress themselves today. Why not?

This quilt earned $96 for the AAQI.
