Port Richey, FL USA
Width: 10.75" Length: 8.75"
Materials/Techniques: 100% cotton fabric, 80/20 batting, cotton and poly threads, fusible web and Pigma pen. I used the blanket stitch for most of the pieces. On the bird I used a specialty stitch to make it look kind of crimpy.
Artist Statement: I had a very rough April. I had cervical spine surgery and could not sew due to the pain. I tried sewing after 2 weeks for 10 minutes at a time. I was determined to make a little quilt for AAQI. I needed to have a reason to smile, so I thought I would just take my time and make something whimsical. This is out of my comfort zone. Why not a red bird in rubber boots? Why not a crazy print for a house? Why not indeed! My grandson loves it!
Dedication: To all the children and caregivers that allow their adult parents to wear a yellow hat, a red plaid shirt and purple floral shorts just because it made them happy to have been able to dress themselves today. Why not?
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $96 for the AAQI.
