Rabelani from the Tambani Project, used with written permission.
Materials/Techniques: The embroidery was stitched by a Venda (South Africa) woman named Rabelani. A statement of her personal story accompanies the quilt along with the story of the Tambani Project. I sewed on the sequins then I quilted and bound it.
Artist Statement: This is my donation for the month of May. The embroidery is one of a series of pieces made by South African women in the Tambani project. Ina Le Roux - the coordinator - gave her approval for me to make and donate this quilt.
Dedication: For my Aunt Maire who worked in South Africa for 60 years teaching crafts and educating. She was a kind woman and would have loved what the Tambani project is doing to help supplement African women's income.
This quilt has a Traditional Sleeve.
This quilt earned $50 for the AAQI.
