Width: 9" Length: 12"
Designer: Original designMaterials/Techniques: All cotton fabrics, mainly batiks, cotton batting, cotton and rayon threads, hand and machine appliqué with machine quilting.
Artist Statement: This quilt was my first experiment with free form cutting of fabrics to make a design. I experimented with the leaves, eventually using starch and Fray Check, so that I could cut the leaves, sew down only the centers and leave the edges unstitched so they could curl up in a 3-D effect. I enjoyed trying to match the batik designs to the picture I wanted to create.

Dedication: I dedicate this quilt to my husband of nearly 40 years, Robert E. Finegan, who is about to celebrate his 75th birthday. Bob has been my very best friend and sweetheart through all of life's ups and downs. He is my most enthusiastic quilting cheerleader. I have tremendous admiration for him and love him dearly. For more than thirty years he was a dedicated and beloved cardiologist. He is now a gifted woodworker. Together we mourned the loss of his brother, Paul, who succumbed to early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $75 for the AAQI.
