Designer: Original designMaterials/Techniques: Polyester chiffon, Angelina fibers, hand-painted silk.
Artist Statement: This quilt represents the Alzheimer’s diseased brain. The base of the quilt is hand-painted silk covered with pinkish Angelina fibers to represent the brain. Aqua colored fibers were added as "tangles,” and all is covered with a layer of damaged tissue chiffon. I find that the pretty colors and unusual methods attract the viewer, but the explanation of what is represented leaves a lasting impression, as one is able to visualize what we hear described, but are unable to see.
