Width: 8.25" Length: 9"

Designer: Original design

Materials/Techniques: Cotton, batik, holiday, novelty and vintage fabrics; polyfil batting, fleurette embellishment, mini wooden spools embellishment, wavy seams/wavy border, machine pieced, machine quilted and hand quilted; fabric spools are hand appliquéd on; fleurette and wooden spools were hot glued on.

Artist Statement: I have made three of these minis before and given to quilting friends so I knew I just had to make one more for AAQI! This is my first time for trying out wavy seams and a wavy border that was fun to do and easier than trying to make a square one. The fleurette was from my orphan box. The wooden spools were left over from crafting many years ago. On a piece of muslin, I just drew one section of the block and used that as my guideline to lay the scrap pieces over top of to check for size, but basically it's put together by eyeballing it so that it's wonky everywhere! The wavy seam I figured out how to do as I went along. With a 5" wide piece of fabric, the wavy seam was sewed on, then measured 1" at the angles of the curves and then cut. Then they were hand sewn to the backs. It was certainly a different way of doing a binding strip, but it fit perfectly and lays flatter than any quilt I have made so far! I make most of my own patterns and love trying new things! AAQI gives me that opportunity while at the same time; I hope others enjoy my work. Please email me for any patterns you would like.
