Woodstock, VA USA
Width: 7" Length: 7"
Materials/Techniques: Cotton and batik fabrics, polyfil batting, free form flowers, raw edge appliqué, hand appliqué, hand quilted, thread painted, glitter felt used for the bee's antenna, vintage butterfly appliqué that's 40+ years old from my mother's estate was used and fabric glue.
Artist Statement: I wanted to do some free form flowers that I thought were my focus, but when I finished, all I could see was a great big heart that showed up between the flowers. This often happens unexpectedly in my quilts. My love of quilting and flowers is speaking loud and clear! I then filled the space with a big bumblebee! The main purpose is hope in trying to raise funds so that a cure may be found! I hope to bring joy to others through my work although I know no one with this disease, but realize the nightmare it can be. All of my family passed away from diabetes and heart disease. There is lots of work ahead in finding cures!
Dedication: In loving memory of all my family.
This quilt has a Hanging Ring.
This quilt earned $36.95 for the AAQI.
