Margie Draper
Woodstock, VA USA
Width: 8.5" Length: 8.5"
Designer: Original designMaterials/Techniques: All cotton and batik fabrics were used with Polyfil batting, paper pieced and hand quilted.
Artist Statement: I made the pattern myself and when finished with the mini, I did a search and found out it's a variation of the Arabic Lattice block found at Quilter's Cache which has a Four Patch in the center whereas mine has a single block. It was just the challenge I was looking for. The last piece of each block has to be hand-tacked or hand-sewn down until I can figure out a better way to do it. It was paper-pieced and joining blocks must be slow and precise. Most of the fabrics in it were from a 3" swap and I wanted to use them in some way. I was happy with the results and it was an opportunity to bring joy to others who see it besides hope in finding a cure.
