Width: 9" Length: 12"
Materials/Techniques: Fusible appliqué, colored pencils and free-motion quilting.
Artist Statement: This quilt was inspired by Brett Dennen’s song “Nothing Lasts Forever.” He sings about a woman who has forgotten him, but he will continue to remember her as the vibrant woman she used to be. He hopes that in her dreams, all of her memories return to her. I had a dream about the quilt, but found it challenging to translate the images from my dream into something solid. Although in another quilt I used black and white to represent the past, in this case it is the present that is black and white. Her colorful world returns to her in dreams and everything becomes clear again. As she spins back in time, specks of color begin to show up in the black and white blocks, until there is color everywhere.
Dedication: For my Dad.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $130 for the AAQI.
