Materials/Techniques: 100% cotton fabric, felt batting, 100% cotton thread.

Artist Statement: The gorgeous purple, teal and blue batik fabric reminded me of the Northern Lights so I decided to create a landscape scene with trees and an appliquéd house. To emphasize the colors in the batik, I used a solid black for the foreground features. The quilting consists of wavy lines running throughout the sky to add a sense of movement.

Dedication: I made this quilt in loving memory of both my great-grandmother ("Mammaw") and my grandmother ("Granny"), both of whom developed Alzheimer’s in their later years. I treasure the memories of both of them, especially the memories of them patiently teaching me how to sew and quilt.

This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
