Chapel Hill, NC USA
Width: 8.5" Length: 10.25"
Designer: Carol Doak, 50 Little Paper-pieced Blocks, used with written permission.Materials/Techniques: 100% cotton fabrics with cotton batting, four corner square triangles for hanging any orientation and machine quilted. This is a block named "Star 5” from Carol Doak's book.
Artist Statement: I wanted to make another quilt in celebration of Independence Day. Stars made from red, white and blue seemed the natural combination for this. I further reduced the original 3" block to a 1 3/4" block with each one of the twenty blocks made up of four 7/8" pieced blocks. Precision, time and much patience goes into all miniature quilts. I find the whole process enjoyable and extremely rewarding. This is my 27th quilt for AAQI.
