957 - Kaleidoscope Sky

Materials/Techniques: Hand pieced, and hand stitched.
Artist's Statement: When I was in Egypt I saw "Whirling Dervishes." Their costumes were quilted fabrics that were made into long skirts that they would spin off, holding them over their heads towards the sky. When they titled them towards the audience it was amazing…like a kaleidoscope in the sky. That is where the idea came from for this piece. The blue border is the sky and the colorful fabrics are the skirt.
Dedication: In memory of Diane Robillard --- her magic remained even when her memory left.

This quilt earned $15 for Alzheimer's research.
