Artist's Statement: I used a photograph taken on an autumn day several years ago. My husband, though surrounded by the beautiful scenery, was not looking at it, but intent on walking back to the car. To me this is a poignant memory.

"Walking Away"

We took a walk one fine October day, the sky a cloudless blue
The tall old trees were raining down bright golden leave
That seemed to twinkle as they fell carpeting the ground
"Look up" I called, but Harold still walked on, looking only at the road ahea
"Wait, wait for me!" but seeming not to hear me walked steadily along
Not seeing all the glories 'round and over him
I ran to catch him and get a picture of it all, but he was far away.
Is this how it will always be?
Wanting to share with him
And he impatient to be home?
