800 - Alzheimer’s Puts a Monkey Wrench into Life

800 - Alzheimer’s Puts a Monkey Wrench into Life
Bonnie MacGregor
Orchard Park, NY   USA

Width: 8.5"   Length: 11"

Materials/Techniques: Monkey Wrench Block and Prairie Points made with folded cotton fabric.

Artist's Statement: The block is offset to show that Alzheimer’s moved my aunt out of the center in her life. The folded fabric in the block represents the “pockets” of her life that she lost – how to read, count, cook and recognize us. The Prairie Points represent family and friends were outside of her life trying to point her in the direction of reality before we realized that Alzheimer’s was her reality.

Dedication: In memory of my Aunt Bette, who died from Alzheimer’s disease.

This quilt is displayed with Fast Finish Triangles.

This quilt earned $50 for Alzheimer's research.
