Materials/Techniques: Setacolor monoprint of leaves on pfd cotton; hand dyed cotton fused; massive free-motion maching-quilting using silk and metallic threads.
Artist's Statement: When I printed leaves onto gray fabric, I thought the resulting printed leaves were just shadows of their former selves. It reminded me of my father-in-law, Alfred P. Fahrion, who at the end of his life was a shadow of his former self. He suffered from dementia, possibly Alzheimer’s. He did not know his own son or grandson at the end of his life.
