Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabrics; machine pieced and quilted, seed bead embellishment.

Artist's Statement: Music is often a medium that offers comfort to those with Alzheimer’s Disease. Music can evoke memories, and many times, the words of beloved hymns, for examples, can be recalled long after most memory, both long and short term, is gone. The notes and staff are somewhat askew to denote the affect of this disease.

Dedication: For my father-in-law, Herbert Flasche, who died in 2006. He had suffered with Alzheimer’s disease for many years. He loved classical music. I believe he is now singing a new song! As a home care social worker, a member of the our area Alzheimer's Association Advisory Board and a facilitator for a caregiver support group sponsored by the North Central Indiana Alzheimer’s Association, I know personally and professionally the impact that this disease has on patients and families.

This quilt is displayed with a traditional sleeve.

This quilt earned $75 for Alzheimer's research.
