Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabric, hand stitching; bead embellishing and machine quilting

Artist's Statement: The flower and leaves were created by folding and stitching cotton fabric, oragami style thus creating a 3D effect. The folded and stitched fabric was then embellished with beads and assembled into a block, which was quilted and finished.

Dedication: This little quilt is dedicated to my mother, Doris Hays, a wonderful educator, writer, storyteller and the "very best grandmother." She was taken from us too early by Alzheimer's. It was extremely difficult to watch her brilliant mind slip away.
