460 - Life’s Crooked Road

460 - Life’s Crooked Road
Karen "Kip" Kelly
Phoenix, AZ   USA

Width: 8.75"   Length: 11.50"

Materials/Techniques: Cotton Mini Bargello pattern sewn with 3/4 inch strips to make 1/4 inch "lines"; machine embroidered; appliqued embroidered flowers in two corners.

Artist's Statement: Some of the strips are straight and some are crooked to represent the changes in life's road that Alzheimer's inflicts on the people we love. The flowers in the corners represent the bright gem we are when we come into this world & (even with Alzheimer's) the bright star we become when we leave it.
