458 - Falling Leaves, Failing Memories

Michele Cook
Lewisville, TX USAWidth: 9"
Length: 10"
Materials/Techniques: Batik fabrics; freehand machine quilting.
Artist's Statement:I had made these blocks for a sweatshirt and it never seemed right so I cut them out and put them aside. I love the Fall and fall colors. When I read about the quilts in Ami's email I wanted to do something and as I was looking through my stash I saw the leaves and it just fell into place.
Dedication: This quilt is to honor my mother, Irene. She did not have Alzheimer's, she died 16 years ago at 63 from emphysema. However, I still had to see her slip away a bit at a time and lose her one tiny bit at a time. She never saw my quilts in life but I know she is watching me. I miss her very much.
This quilt is displayed with

This quilt earned Alzheimer's research $70.00
