351 - Spring Trees

351 - Spring Trees
Charlotte Warr Andersen
Salt Lake City, UT   USA

Width: 8.25"   Length: 14.5"

Materials/Techniques: Cotton base and backing, silk and polyester organza, timtex; digitized machine embroidery.

Artist's Statement: The basis of this piece was a "test" embroidery for a portion of a commission I was hired to make. (When I digitize embroidery I test it before embroidering it on the actual work to make sure it stitches out correctly.) Though the piece the embroidery was designed for looks quite different than this small quilt I really like the way "Spring Trees" has turned out and it gave me the opportunity to try a new technique with the frayed organza overlays.

Dedication: For my mother, Mary Dufrenne Warr, who died of Alzheimer's. She taught me so much about sewing and needlework.

This quilt is displayed with a traditional sleeve.

This quilt earned $325.00 for Alzheimer's research.
